Hilo Beauty is one of the more stunning varieties of caladiums. For a long while it was considered an alocasia, and many still sell it as an alocasia, but it is fact a caladium. It is commonly referred to as the “camo” elephant ear, and it makes a great garden conversation piece. With its bright jade leaves liberally splotched with variegation that starts out creamy yellow on new leaves and lightens to almost white as the leaf matures, it is a must have for any plant lover. It thrives in moist to moderately wet conditions and can handle anything from almost full sun to part sun, though it seems to grow best with about 4-6 hours of direct sun a day. This one does not grow well in full shade.
